Finally, the fourth function of childhood is always Fe. Extroverted feeling – it is what kindergarten teachers and parents use to get kids to do what they want. The whole idea of sitting still in school and listening to the teacher is all about Fe, and the best students are the ones most adept at Fe. Now, depending on the preferences/temperament of the child, each child will stack his/her 4 immature functions differently. The immature INTJ, for example, will stack them as Ni-Fe-Fi-Se. Note that this is almost exactly the mature stack, except with Fe in the place of what will eventually be Te. Te does not develop until the child learns to think logically, and until then Fe will sit in its place. Thus, the INTJ child who will grow up to become someone who abhors Fe is actually Fe-dominant in his youth. This is why I, as an INTJ, am so damn Beta. My childhood/teenage Fe that I absorbed from my teachers/family taught me how I was supposed to behave, and I absorbed it. I wouldn’t absorb it now, but I did then – and it is part of me, for better or worse.
